The New England Patriots were recently involved in a number of trade moves and head coach Bill Belichick discussed in a conference last Sunday these moves and their trading pattern in the past few seasons.

First, Belichick spoke about the acquisition of defensive tackle Akiem Hicks from the New Orleans Saints in exchange for tight end Michael Hoomanawanui.

"We got a good look at him down there and thought that he did some good things. So, we'll just put him into it here and see how it goes," Belichick said of Hicks.

Then he spoke about Hoomanawanui, agreeing that the former starter for the Pats was a useful, versatile player and was a "smart guy" and adding that they had a lot of wins with him.

Belichick was then asked about the Patriots being busy with in-season trades since 2012.

"I'd say that's definitely true. Yeah, no question about it. It's worked out that way. We felt like we could make some moves that would help us, obviously, and we'll see how it all turns out," he answered.

Belichick added that some players they have acquired are the ones they thought would be "beneficial" and "productive" for them.

According to him, some of the players were, and they have yet to see if their recent acquisitions will be the same.

Because of the success of the recent trade moves that were accomplished, Belichick was asked if he would be doing trade deals actively.

"I just think they worked out. I don't think it's been any, like a big conscious effort on our part, like this is what we've got to do," Belichick said.

He also stated that they have never been afraid to trade, be it during the draft, preseason, or the regular season.

Along with Hicks, one of the Patriots' recent notable trade acquisition was linebacker Jon Bostic from the Chicago Bears.
