NBA trade rumors 2016: Pistons' Brandon Jennings either ending up with Rockets or Suns?

Detroit Pistons point guard Brandon Jennings is just regaining his form from an Achilles injury but because of the role given to him in his return while bouncing back from the health setback, he has been involved in the trade rumor mill.

Jennings was linked with the New York Knicks when the trade period began last month, since the franchise is reportedly interested in adding backcourt help.

But in a report by Sporting News, two new teams were mentioned as favored destinations for Jennings — the Houston Rockets and the Phoenix Suns.

So far, Jennings has played in seven games this season as a member of the second unit and is averaging 7.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in 17.9 minutes of action per contest.

Last season, the 26-year-old player was the main point guard for Detroit but the injury ended his season and the team traded for Reggie Jackson.

Now, Jennings, who has proven through the years that he can be starter, is settling for the backup role behind Jackson.

But if either the Rockets or Suns acquire him via a trade deal, Jennings may regain the starting role and help one of these teams which are struggling this season.

Houston, so far, has three prominent point guards in Patrick Beverley, Ty Lawson, and Jason Terry, if Jennings joins the team it will be hard for him to get the starting job.

But if the trade involves one of those playmakers, Jennings may have a shot but will likely begin his career with the Rockets as number two on the depth chart for the position.

Meanwhile, if the Suns add Jennings via trade, he will be a great addition to the team since Eric Bledsoe suffered a season-ending knee injury.

Bledsoe was the leading scorer for the Suns, with the injury leaving a huge hole in the team's offense.

Despite all the rumors, it seems like Jennings is not going anywhere since Stan Van Gundy, Pistons head coach and president of basketball operations, is not looking to deal him away.
