The New York Knicks are reportedly aiming to recruit Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant, who is set to become a free agent this coming summer, reports ESPN. However, the reports points out that there may not be much reason for Durant to switch over due to the fact that the Knicks have a slim chance of winning the 2016-2017 finals.
According to the report, over the past two seasons the Knicks have won only 49 games total. This indicates that they have a very small chance of even getting to the finals, much less of winning them, and that may not be an appealing circumstance for Kevin Durant.
Durant, who recently played his last game for Oklahoma City although they lost their last match in the post-season games, will become a free agent this summer. However, according to the report, there is a very high possibility of Durant signing a new deal with Oklahoma City instead of transferring to a different team.
It is further explained that Durant will be demanding a minimum of $25 million per season and this may escalate to over $33 million. While Oklahoma City may be willing to spend this much money to keep Durant it is undetermined if the Knicks will or if the club has enough money to spend on him.
There is also the report that the Los Angeles Lakers are aiming to recruit Durant as well. According to Silver Screen and Roll, the Lakers may be hoping to one-up the deal that Oklahoma will offer in an effort to fill in the slot that was left open by the now-retired Kobe Bryant.
Durant, 27, has one of the most notable careers in the NBA. As stated in a report from the Daily Knicks, Durant has managed to lead Oklahoma City to the NBA finals in 2012, won the MVP in the 2013-2014 season and achieved for scoring titles to his name.
