Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James shared his thoughts on the rough judgement Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant is giving himself this 2015–16 season because of his subpar performance.
"I'm the 200th-best player in the league right now. I freaking suck," Bryant said following Sunday's loss to the Dallas Mavericks which was their third consecutive.
The Lakers are currently at 0–4 with Bryant averaging 15.8 points, four rebounds, 2.5 assists, and one steal in 28 minutes of action per contest playing in all four of their games so far.
If the 37-year-old thinks he "sucks," James is looking at it in a positive way and said, according to the Akron Beacon Journal, "He knows he don't suck. What I see is a challenge to himself."
The two-time National Basketball Association (NBA) champion added, "It has zero to do with his age. Zero. I think at one point in my career, in my 20s, I felt like I sucked. It's all a personal challenge."
Bryant is returning from a rotator cuff injury suffered in the 2014–15 season which limited him to only 35 regular season games.
The five-time champion is also playing in the last season of his existing deal with the Lakers, with rumors swirling that this will be his final year.
Despite all the struggles that Bryant is facing, head coach Byron Scott is not worried about the veteran shooting guard saying, according to ESPN, "He'll figure it out. Kobe is the last person that I worry about."
The Lakers will try to get their first win of the season but will have a tall task as they go on a five-game road trip which will begin this Friday against the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center.
Following its game against Brooklyn, Los Angeles will then face the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, and the Dallas Mavericks before returning to the Staples Center.
