While March 1 saw the unveiling of flagship phones, specifically HTC's One M9 and Samsung's Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, the official opening of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain saw wearables and other gadgets make their way into the spotlight.

Headsets

AKG took the stage with their N20 in-ear headphones with universal mic and remote, able to work on both Apple and Android devices. Having a semi-closed back design and housed in aluminum, the N20 comes with different-sized silicone tips and a tangle-free fabric cord cable measured at 1.2 meters.

Another sound giant who made this year's MWC is JBL with their "Reflect Response" headphones. This pair was earlier announced at the Consumer Electronics Show and is said to be designed with revolutionary gesture controls.

Also present is Huawei's TalkBand N1, flaunted to be the first ever Hi-Fi wireless sports headphones. With an internal storage of 4 GB, the TalkBand N1 can be used independently of a smartphone, able to play music by itself.

Smartphones

No MWC day is complete without a tech giant unveiling more and more of their flagship phone line ups.

Aside from an update announcement for the One M8, HTC's One M9 was finally unveiled, with presenters focusing on details that make the phone stand out. A new interface, upgraded processor, and support for high-res audio sees the One M9 alongside LG's G3 and Sony's Xperia Z3 in supporting higher-tracked audio.

Meanwhile, Sony decided to forgo the usual flagship phone announcements and settled for the mid-range Xperia M4 Aqua. The company decided to change focus and instead unveiled its new Xperia Z4 tablet. Featuring a 2k screen and hi-res audio, the tablet also shares the IP68 waterproof rating of other Sony devices. At 10.1 inches, Sony hopes the Z4 tablet will become a worthy competitor to Samsung's Galaxy Note 10.1.
