The Minnesota Timberwolves continue their preseason quest to capture their first win when they head to the Air Canada Centre to face the Toronto Raptors today, Monday.
Minnesota is 0–2 to begin the preseason, losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder (122–99) and the Chicago Bulls (114–105).
After not scoring a single point in their loss to Oklahoma City, Timberwolves rookie point guard Tyus Jones led his squad in their defeat to the Bulls, scoring 18 points, two rebounds, nine assists, and one steal off the bench.
Jones' fellow rookie and 2015 top pick center Karl-Anthony Towns also had a splendid performance having 13 points, 10 rebounds, one steal, and one block in a losing effort.
Despite the loss, the future looks bright for the Timberwolves since Towns has been performing consistently for Minnesota especially on his offensive game.
Before the double-double performance against the Bulls, the former Kentucky big man dropped 18 points to lead Minnesota in scoring during their loss to the Thunder.
The Raptors, on the other hand, are coming off a 105–97 victory in their last preseason match against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The win improved Toronto's preseason record to 2–1 as the team looks for a back-to-back facing the Timberwolves.
Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry led his team with 25 points, together with two rebounds, six assists, and one steal.
Aiding Lowry were offseason additions forward DeMarre Carroll and guard Cory Joseph who scored 18 points each in the win.
The Raptors' win was a bounce back performance following a 95–87 loss to the Golden State Warriors.
Both teams are looking for better campaigns this season as the Timberwolves have missed the playoffs for 11 consecutive seasons now, while the Raptors failed to make it past the first round of the playoffs in the previous two seasons.
