Microsoft and gaming publisher Mojang recently hosted a Twitch stream, where they revealed details about the upcoming "Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition" game.

For starters, the "Minecraft" world on the Nintendo Switch will be much bigger, at 3072 x 3072, compared to its previous incarnation on the Wii U, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, which was only at 864 x 864. However, it is not as big as the maps on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, both of which had a 5120 x 5120 scale. This effectively puts the Nintendo Switch version at "medium" level when it comes to having room for building.

Not only will the Minecraft world on the Nintendo Switch be bigger, it will be much clearer as well. It will now run at 60 frames per second (fps), which is much faster compared to PlayStation Vita, which ran between 20-25 fps. Its low frame rate has led to some fans criticizing the latter for its choppy gameplay.

Transferring data from the Wii U version to the Nintendo Switch is also in the pipeline. However, WWG reported that this feature will not be available immediately upon the game's launch, as the developers will need more time to work on this. No date has been given on when this feature will be rolled out.

"Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition" also comes with a load of bonus content. It comes with the "Super Mario Mash Up" content, which is inclusive of 40 Super Mario-themed skins of the popular characters from the series, a "Super Mario World" setting, and other puzzles, textures, music, and features recalling the gameplay and settings of "Super Mario" games.

The game's version will be similar to what was released in January 2017. However, it can be updated almost immediately when the Switch version rolls out.

"Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition" will be released on May 11.
