The newly-named Windows 10 Mobile edition got a new update even before it is officially released.
Due to arrive after the PC version of the latest Microsoft platform, the new Windows 10 Mobile is expected to be made available for smartphone and tablet users in the last months of 2015 to early next year. However, Microsoft wants to smooth out kinks in the build as early as possible, and is currently rolling up continuous updates to the preview build of the newest, upcoming mobile platform.
Aside from introducing fixes and improvements to the build, the new update also brings new features to the preview. Most notable of the new features is the beta phase of a new app called Windows Store. This is an app for phones running Windows 10 Mobile, and is converted from the same interface as the PC version. Still in its beta program, the Store is a centralized hub where Windows 10 Mobile users can search and pay for apps and games.
Aside from those, Microsoft is also planning for the Store to be a one-stop shop for media content.
Gabe Aul of Microsoft writes in the official blog, "We're also adding music, movies and TV shows into the Store for you to purchase and access across all your devices. Movies & TV page is functional. Music is not available in this build but will be coming soon. And just like on PC, the current Windows Store remains available in this build."
With the launch of the new Windows 10 platform, Microsoft hopes for the new operating system to be the go-to solution for different types of users, from casual Internet surfers, hardcore gamers, even for heavy-usage computer geeks.
As Terry Myerson of Microsoft said in the Windows 10 unveiling early this year: "Windows 10 will support the broadest device family ever – from PCs, tablets and 2-in-1s to phones to Xbox and the Internet of Things. To enable this, we work to specifically tailor Windows 10 to these device types."
