Meizu's newest line of smartphones will reportedly be featuring the Exynos 7420 processors from Samsung.
To provide a better picture of the story, it seems that Meizu's supposed decision to go with Samsung's processors began when rumors came out suggesting that the company was planning to scrap the release of their MX5 Pro.
The MX5 Pro would be Meizu's follow-up to the MX5, which in itself was a pretty good device, according to Android Authority.
Meizu is reportedly ditching their plans to produce the MX5 Pro so that they can begin work on a different smartphone, one that the company hopes will be capable of competing well with Xiaomi's Mi Notes, hence leading to the company's decision to try and create a smartphone that is better than anything they have made before.
Still, even with the rumors of a new smartphone line, some people were still caught off guard by Meizu's decision to go with the Exynos 7420 processors from Samsung for their new devices, although there is supposedly a good reason behind this.
According to iDigital Times, Meizu's decision to start using the Exynos 7420 processors for their new line of smartphones is not just because they want optimum performance, but also because of all the negative press surrounding Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chip. Most notably, devices equipped with the Snapdragon 810 allegedly dealt with a lot of overheating issues.
Meizu seemingly did not want to use the Snapdragon 810, nor did they want to wait around for the Snapdragon 820, thus leading them to go in a different direction and simply use the Exynos 7420 processors from Samsung instead.
For those who may be wondering about the capabilities of the Exynos 7420 processor, it is the same one being used for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones from Samsung.
At this point, neither Meizu nor Samsung have yet to confirm the rumors surrounding the Exynos 7420 processor.
