The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to end its third phase, with the two upcoming "Avengers" movies officially ending the main run. However, in an interview with /Film, Marvel Television president Jeph Loeb confirmed that even with phase 4 further enlarging the scale of the films and television shows, there will still be no crossovers.
This would mean Daredevil (Charlie Cox) or the Punisher (Jon Bernthal) is unlikely going to appear in "Avengers: Infinity War" or its 2019 sequel. It also means there are fewer chances of the movie characters like Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) or Spider-Man (Tom Holland) appearing on any of the TV shows like "Jessica Jones" or "Defenders."
"If I'm shooting a television series and that's going to go on over a six-month or eight-month period, how am I going to get Mike Colter to be able to go be in a movie? I need Mike to be in a television show," Loeb explained.
Loeb also went on the record stating that one of the main issues was that movies were planned and produced years in advance while shows are planned and filmed in breakneck speed, guaranteeing that the schedules for the cast and the writers could never work together.
He did confirm that the two mediums were still connected although in a more organic way, claiming that they did share the same world and related to the same events but this doesn't mean there needs to be a scene where Matt Murdock aka Daredevil needs to meet someone like Scott Lang aka Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) while walking down the streets of New York.
Loeb also stated that there have been a few crossovers in some form, such as Rosario Dawson playing Claire Temple across all of the Netflix shows or the mentioning of the New York invasion from "Avengers" in some of the shows such as "Daredevil" season 1.
