Manchester United is close to its second signing, as the transfer of Torino defender Matteo Darmian is reportedly close to being completed.

BBC Sports failed to get a comment from United regarding a report from Italy about a £12.9-million deal for Darmian. But the team mentioned that talks were "at an advanced stage" already.

Also, the Red Devils are hoping they could complete the move for Darmian soon so he can come with them in their United States tour which will kick off in Seattle Monday.

Torino manager Giampiero Ventura confirmed in a statement to Sky Sports Italia that Darmian would be heading to Manchester United.

"Matteo Darmian will play for Manchester United. It's a dream for him. It's true, Darmian will play in the Champions League with Manchester United. Matteo deserves a top team and always dreamed of playing in the Champions League, so now that dream will be realised," Ventura said.

The manager added that letting Darmian join Manchester United was their way of giving back something to him after all the success they have reached working together.

"In these four years we've gone from Serie B and a great depression to the top flight and the enthusiasm of the Europa League. We worked with Darmian for many years and it's only right he should be given the chance to make his Champions League dream come true."

According to ESPN FC, Manchester United shifted their attention to Darmian after targeted defenders Nathaniel Clyne and Dani Alves did not join the club. Clyne inked with Liverpool while Alves re-signed with Champions League winner Barcelona.

But according to BBC Sports, the club remains interested in Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin. So far, there is only one signing for United this summer, and that is Memphis Depay, 21, a former PSV Eindhoven winger.
