MacBook Pro 2015 release date rumors: Discounts signal imminent release?

A new wave of discounts for numerous MacBook Pro models are rumored to be the start of Apple's plan to unveil its latest model of the device.

At this point, only one major retailer is offering significant discounts for MacBook Pros. Most notably, Best Buy is offering the 13.3 inch MacBook Pro with retina display for $1,349.99, as well as an open box model of the same laptop for $1,227.99. Both deals are part of the retailer's Fourth of July promotion, according to Yibada.

In addition to Best Buy, some authorized Apple resellers are offering MacBook Pros at significantly discounted prices. B&H Photo has lowered the price of their 15-inch MacBook Pro all the way down to $1,899. B&H Photo is also offering the same MacBook Pro model with the exact same specifics as well as AppleCare for $2,143, according to Apple Insider. The discount takes around $600 off the suggested retail price for the model.

Recently released MacBook Pro models are also being offered at significantly discounted prices. B&H Photo is offering a discount of around $245 to $360 for all of their mid-2015 15" MacBook Pro models featuring AppleCare.

Apple itself is offering significant discounts for their MacBook Pros, but they are only being given to teachers and students as part of the company's efforts to make their products more affordable for those currently involved in education.

Also adding to the speculation that Apple is indeed on the verge of releasing a new MacBook Pro is the fact that the company has already updated their most recent models of the laptop earlier in the year. Both of the most recently released 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pro models received updates earlier in the year, but the changes were regarded as being minor.

Apple has yet to confirm that it will be releasing a new MacBook Pro, but the rumor mill suggests it is working on a larger iPad Pro.
