It seems like the future of the Los Angeles Lakers will be brighter as 2015 number two pick point guard D'Angelo Russell is showing great signs of improvement in their recent games, despite their struggles this 2015–16 regular season.

In the early stages of the season, Russell had a hard time fitting into the Lakers' system and there were times he was struggling to find decent playing minutes.

But the rookie playmaker did not let that discourage him and in their past few outings has been showing head coach Byron Scott that he is taking advantage of all the playing opportunities being given to him.

The Lakers captured their fourth win last Tuesday, shutting down the Milwaukee Bucks at home, 113–95.

In the game, the Lakers had a total of 26 assists, seven of those were from Russell who came off the bench and also tallied 19 points, four rebounds, and three steals in 30 minutes of action.

"I think he's starting to see the progression take place. His last four or five games have been really good, as a starter and as a guy coming off the bench," Scott told reporters during Wednesday's practice, according to Lakers Nation.

"I think right now he's feeling pretty good about himself, but I want him to be even more hungry now from this point on, because he can be even better," he added.

In 25 games played this season including 22 starting stints, Russell is averaging 12.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.2 steals in 28.4 minutes played per contest.

According to Lakers Nation, Scott also said last Wednesday that Russell is having less freedom in calling plays and he is the one giving the young point guard plays to run during their offense.

Russell and the Lakers are hoping they can turn things around following the huge win over Milwaukee.

The Lakers will remain at the Staples Center for their next game today, Thursday, taking on the Houston Rockets.
