Los Angeles Clippers trade rumors 2016: All-Star Chris Paul heading to Boston Celtics?

The Los Angeles Clippers are thriving as of late and are on a 10-game winning streak despite missing All-Star forward Blake Griffin, but it seems like drastic changes might be made for the team to truly contend in the Western Conference.

In a report by Sports Illustrated's Hoops Habit, it was mentioned that for the Clippers to be considered as contenders in the West, they may have to wait for the dominance of the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs to "run out."

When that happens, All-Star point guard Chris Paul may no longer be the same player that he is now, with age being considered the main factor.

Because of this, the Clippers may pull off a huge move that involves trading Paul, a roster adjustment that the franchise will not likely make.

But if the Clippers are eyeing the future and are prepping for it, trading Paul in his peak might be the best way to do it since they are surely to get a blockbuster deal in exchange for the All-Star playmaker.

Currently, Paul is averaging 18 points, 3.7 rebounds, 9.6 assists, and two steals in 32.3 minutes played per game.

Hoops Habit's report mentioned that a team looking to trade for Paul must be a rebuilding organization ready to win and contend in the next few seasons, with the potential deal involving a point guard as well.

The report suggested that the team closest to making a run at Paul are the Boston Celtics, which will have many draft picks ahead of them in the upcoming seasons and should include these picks if they try to acquire him.

Indeed, the Celtics is a young team, already contending in the Eastern Conference, and the addition of Paul will change the franchise big time just like what happened to the Clippers.

Still despite trading some picks, the Celtics have many more in the future which they can use to add major stars, after trading for Paul, to return the franchise to the championship pedestal.
