Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers NBA 2015 transfer rumor: Jamal Crawford interested in joining Cavs?

It seems like one key member of the Los Angeles Clippers wants to join the Cleveland Cavaliers as guard Jamal Crawford wished earlier this offseason that he were a free agent.

The Clippers and Cavaliers were rumored to have been talking this offseason about a trade for Crawford but no deal was pursued.

Crawford was asked through Twitter last month if he was staying with the Clippers or will he be heading to Cleveland and he replied, "I'm not a f/a (free agent), wish but I'm not.. Soo u gotta ask Doc....."

Meanwhile Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com stated, "I know Jamal personally, and I know he would definitely like to be a part of the Cavaliers' organization."

He also said, "Jamal is one guy off the top of my head that I know would be a fit, and I know that they'll be looking at him. They want to use that exception for a wing player."

The Cavaliers reached the NBA Finals with four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) LeBron James leading a depleted lineup that had injuries to All-Star calibur players point guard Kyrie Irving and forward Kevin Love in the playoffs and center Anderson Varejão earlier in the regular season.

The players that helped James during that stretch were J.R. Smith, Matthew Dellavedova, Iman Shumpert, Tristan Thompson, and Timofey Mozgov.

They lost to the Golden State Warriors in six games and one factor is because James did not have enough help. That is why Crawford would be a great addition to the Cavaliers.

Crawford has won the Sixth Man of the Year award twice (2010, 2014) and was the Clippers' only reliable scorer off the bench last season.

The 35-year-old guard averaged 15.8 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per outing in 64 regular season games played.

In their playoff campaign he played in 14 games averaging 12.7 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game.

Had those contributions been present off the bench for the Cavaliers and James during their NBA Finals stretch, there could have been a different result despite the setbacks they had suffered all season long.
