'Longmire' season 4 spoilers, premiere: Netflix air date hinted by Katie Sackhoff

Longmire A&E/Netflix

The fourth season of "Longmire" will no longer air on the A&E network and instead will be available on Netflix. None of the show runners or producers have given any indication when the fourth season will air but actress Katie Sackhoff has given fans a small glimmer of hope.

According to Enstarz, Sackhoff was asked by a fan when the fourth season would be out and she replied via Twitter "If I knew I would. Season 3 soon! Season 4...probably August-September. No guarantees though."

The site continues to state that fans have speculated the fourth season would air in the fall of this year and Sackhoff's statements appear to verify this rumor.

As if to solidify this, Sackhoff had stated that fans may be reuniting with the show sooner than expected. It was later revealed that the third season would be coming to Netflix by May 1 2015. This will give something for the fans while they wait for the fourth season which is currently in production.

"Longmire" was suddenly canceled by A&E last year because the show was not performing well with the 18-49 age demographic. It was, however, the highest rated scripted show for the network so clearly the show runners knew what they were doing. Fans speculate that poor marketing and the show's weekly schedule was what led to its demise.

Fans of the series launched an aggressive Twitter campaign to save "Longmire" and the show was eventually saved back in Nov. when Netflix picked it up for a season 4, filled with 10 episodes. Just like other Netflix shows such as "Daredevil," all episodes will be made available simultaneously for binge watching.

At the time of writing, the cast and crew are shooting the fourth episode in New Mexico. With production not even reaching the half-way point it is no surprise that Netflix has not yet announced a definitive air date.
