LG Watch Urbane review, Android Wear update detailed

 LG website

The LG Watch Urbane is a wearable that runs on the latest version of the Android Wear platform. With a number of smartwatch fans turned off by the recently-launched Apple Watch due to its price, how would the LG Watch Urbane compare?

Display

Unlike the previous LG G Watch R, the new Urbane got an upgrade in the display department. It now has a much clearer P-OLED display that has a 320 x 320 resolution, with a 245 pixel density packed at 1.3 inches. When worn, the minimalist look of the Urbane also makes it look smaller than another Android Wear rival, the Moto 360.

Design

While the G Watch R looks to be a perfect fit for fitness and outdoor activities, the Urbane's elegant and uncluttered design makes it suitable for a classy look. The device has a stainless steel frame with arms that are designed to be adjusted. This means that aside from the different watch faces, users can also change how the watch would look on their wrists by replacing the 22-mm strap, be it leather, silicone, or metal links.

The LG Watch Urbane can also be worn by both sexes, as users can also choose to purchase a watch body in shades of rose gold or silver.

Interface

What's good about Android Wear, in general, is that the platform was just recently updated. Now, most of the Android-run wearables like the Urbane run on Android 5.1. With the update, users can now interface with the smartwatch using gestures, and access apps and features with a flick of a wrist.

The new update also brings in Wi-Fi support for the LG Watch Urbane. This means that even if the user forgets his phone at home or in the office, the wearer can still receive notifications as long as the wearable is synced to the phone and is connected via Wi-Fi.
