LG G2 and LG G3 experience Android 5.0 problems and issues

Late last month, Korea-based LG announced its new flagship product, the LG G4, claiming an improved design and better performance. But one of the most outstanding features the new device has, aside from the premium look and upped specs, is that it comes running the new Android Lollipop platform right out of the box.

That doesn't mean that LG fans will just switch over though. The new phone's predecessors, the LG G2 and the LG G3, are two of the most popular phones today in the market. This means that many owners would still want to keep their handsets, although these would need to be updated in order to vie with their newest brother.

However, much to the disappointment of G2 and G3 users who updated their operating system, their devices reportedly registered a number of problems when they updated their platform to Android 5.0 Lollipop. Various issues have cropped up, including consistent battery drain, unstable Wi-Fi connectivity, and slow charging times. According to reports, users have complained that since they switched their G2 and G3 over to the 5.0 version of Lollipop, the phones' battery life was almost halved, and there has been an increase on the time it takes to fully charge their devices. Also, most online apps such as Facebook and Instagram keep on refreshing blanks, which means that there is intermittent Internet connection.

Many users who encountered the issues flocked to online forums and threads to voice out their frustrations, and to hopefully find a solution. Although it seems that on some devices, a factory reset remedies the issues, the LG handsets would need a new update in order to fix the problems.

One user reported to Tech Times, "I have done 4 factory resets, finally the battery charges faster but now the Wi-Fi is super slow and the drain is still fast. The update ruined a perfectly functioning phone."

The update issue is not exclusive to the LG handsets either. Reports indicate that most Galaxy Note 4 owners are also complaining about the problems that they have noticed when they availed of the OTA update to Android 5.0.
