The LA Galaxy will try to solidify their hold of the best record in Major League Soccer (MLS) when they pay the San Jose Earthquakes a visit at Avaya Stadium this Friday.

Both of these clubs already defeated each other in their first two league meetings, with San Jose winning their first match this season 3–1 and the LA Galaxy avenging the defeat with a 5–2 victory last month.

Galaxy will be heading to the rubber match riding a four-match winning streak in the MLS, with the most recent victory a 5–1 drubbing of New York City FC (NYCFC) last Sunday.

Striker and captain Robbie Keane once again led the way for Galaxy, recording a brace and an assist in Sunday's game.

LA forward Gyasi Zardes and midfielders Giovani Dos Santos and Sebastian Lletget also netted a goal each to help defeat NYCFC.

The lone goal scored by NYCFC was by their captain David Villa who had a successful penalty conversion in the 80th minute.

Galaxy's win improved their record to 13–7–7 with 46 points to lead the Western Conference and also claim the top spot in the Supporters' Shield standings. They are now one point ahead of Vancouver Whitecaps FC (45 points) and the Eastern Conference-leading D.C. United (44 points).

Meanwhile, the Earthquakes are also entering the match against LA on a winning streak after beating the Colorado Rapids (1–0), Sporting Kansas City (5–0), and D.C. United (2–0) in their past three MLS games.

Before the three-match winning streak, San Jose failed to secure a victory in six games following their win over Galaxy in their first meeting back in June.

In their recent win over D.C. United, forward Chris Wondolowski and midfielder Shea Salinas were the ones who scored for the club.

The Earthquakes currently hold a 10–10–5 record with 35 points tied with Seattle Sounders FC.

The match between the Galaxy and Earthquakes will be played on Aug. 28 at 11 p.m. EST. It will be shown on UniMás and to watch the match via live stream, click here.
