Good news for the Kansas City Chiefs as wide receiver Jeremy Maclin is "making good progress," according to head coach Andy Reid, but his ankle injury still hindered him from participating in Tuesday's practice.

Maclin reportedly suffered a high ankle sprain in their Wild Card Playoff game versus the Houston Texans, which led to him leaving the game in tears.

But in a report by the Boston Herald, Reid said in a conference that Maclin is having progress even though he is not practicing.

Pete Sweeney of Chiefs.com said in a tweet that Reid is also confident using Maclin this Saturday in their Divisional Playoffs matchups with the New England Patriots, even if their leading receiver will not practice all week.

Kansas City is hopeful that Maclin will see action versus the Pats since he is a key to their offense and is a huge challenge for the defending champions' defense come Saturday.

In 15 games played in the regular season, Maclin had 87 receptions (career-best) for 1,088 yards and eight touchdowns in his first season with the Chiefs.

If Maclin is still uncertain for Saturday, the Patriots, on the other hand, will have a significant wide receiver back when they try to advance versus Kansas City.

Wide receiver Julian Edelman is set to return after missing the last seven games of the regular season due to a foot injury.

"I'm going to go full throttle regardless. If it goes, it goes," Edelman expressed following Monday's practice according to ESPN

Edelman was New England's leading receiver before the injury ended what could have been a spectacular regular season.

In ESPN's report, the 29-year-old wide receiver also spoke about how he dealt with the injury and stated, "I'm kind of my worst enemy when it comes to that, trying to over-push things.

"We've had our staff work with me to keep me from hurting myself. So I think we've handled it pretty decent," he added.

The Patriots will host the Chiefs at the Gillette Stadium for the Divisional Playoff game between the two.
