Liv (Rose McIver) will discover an unexpected ally in Blaine (David Anders) when The CW series returns for its second season.

TV Guide reports that the two will find themselves with a common goal in the upcoming installment. Creator Rob Thomas revealed that the tandem would be trying to put a stop on Max Rager CEO Vaughn Du Clark's (Steven Weber) evil plans.

According to Thomas, "Blaine and Liv will figure out somewhere reasonably early in Season 2 that someone is eliminating zombies and that will make very strange bedfellows out of the two of them."

Thomas said that while they still hate each other's guts, Liv and Blaine need all the support they can get before "all zombies are taken out." Aside from the Du Clark opposition, the female protagonist also has to deal with another foe. Clive (Malcolm Goodwin) appears to be working against one of her closest allies, and Liv does not want to be caught unawares of whatever scheme he could be hatching.

Thomas said Clive will be trying to find out what happened at Meat Cute and he will reportedly not trust the Seattle Police Department for the investigation.

"Clive's great white whale of Season 2 is trying to find out what really happened at Meat Cute. He is pretty convinced that Major and another character — Blaine's name gets written on the wall in blood if you remember — were involved," Thomas explained.

Meanwhile, the show's teaser released by The CW showed a glimpse of what fans could expect for season 2. In the 30-second promo, TVOverMind reports that Liv can be seen enjoying her first meal for the installment — two different brains, one from a frat boy and the other from a grumpy old man.

Du Clark is also pictured talking to someone or a group, saying "there are zombies living among us." As for Blaine, a quick peek shows how normal, human life has been treating him.

"iZombie" season 2 will premiere on Oct. 6 at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
