Apple's iPad Mini 4 could feature quite an interesting collection of features and specs.

Since Apple has yet to offer any official word about the iPad Mini 4, rumors about what it might actually turn out to be have been all over the place online.

Fans may be a bit disappointed when the iPad Mini 4 eventually comes out and the reason may be because of the device's rumored specs.

According to the International Business Times, there's not much of an upgrade that has actually been applied to the iPad Mini 4 at least from the perspective of its would be specs.

Once released, the iPad Mini 4 will reportedly feature Apple's A8X processor paired up with 2 GB of RAM. It is also said to be thinner, at just 6.1 mm.

Interestingly enough, despite what may look like an incremental upgrade as opposed to a wholly significant one, other outlets are reporting that the new processor alone could open a whole new avenue of functions of features for the rumored iPad Mini 4.

According to Business Insider, one thing in particular that the new processor could theoretically support would be a new split-screen feature. If the iPad Mini 4 ultimately stays with the A7 processor, then it's likely that the new feature would not be part of the package for the new device; but if reports of a processor upgrade turn out to be true, then the feature could very well be coming to the device as well.

Aside from an upgraded processor, the iPad Mini 4 will also reportedly come with an 8-megapixel camera complete with an iSight sensor.

Again, it's unclear at this point what the iPad Mini 4 will ultimately become, but it would not be a surprise to see it showcase at least a few notable upgrades.

Apple fans can reportedly expect the iPad Mini 4 to be released in October, although it could also be unveiled as early as September.
