Chinese tech company Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. has been very busy this year releasing new smartphones such as the Huawei P8, Huawei G8, and recently, the Huawei Honor 7. The company isn't stopping yet and is now preparing to launch its first ever smartwatch, including the Huawei Honor 7i variant, which is expected to be unveiled this month.
Another handset that surfaced recently is the Huawei Mate 7 Mini/Plus or Mate 7S. This phone, according to a report by Phone Arena, had just made its way through the Global Certification Forum (GCF) with the name "Mate S."
The report by GSM Arena adds that the Mate S, also known as the SUR-TL00 model, is expected to be unveiled on Sept. 2 during the IFA 2015 event that will take place in Berlin.The IFA 2015 event itself will run on Sept. 4–9, but press conferences, during which vendors and other exhibitors could make new product announcements, will start on Sept. 2.
In terms of the specs, the Huawei Mate S will sport a 5.7-inch display screen with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. It will have a 20-megapixel camera on the back and an 8-megapixel camera on the front. Also, the phone will run on the new Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system (OS).
Inside, reports say the Mate S will pack Huawei's own HiSilicon Kirin 835 processor under its hood with an octa-core CPU and the Mali-T628 MP4 graphics processing unit. According to Android Headlines, some rumors suggest it will come with the company's HiSilicon Kirin 950 processor instead.
In addition, the device will have 3 GB of RAM and up to 32 GB of built-in memory storage.
Since the IFA 2015 event is fast approaching, more details are expected to come out. Other devices expected to be unveiled during the event include Samsung's brand new smartwatch, called the Gear S2, which is the successor to last year's Gear S.
