"Heroes Reborn" premieres September 24 on NBC. NBC

NBC's upcoming 13-episode miniseries "Heroes Reborn" is slated to air on September, but its official trailer is already triggering much excitement among fans.

The new teaser, entitled "The Extraordinary Among Us," gives the viewers glimpses of the aftermath of a terrorist attack in Odessa, Texas as featured on the original series. According to the network, the show will revolve around the characters with extraordinary abilities who were forced into hiding after being blamed for the attack.

Noah Bennet (Jack Coleman), also known as H.R.G., will still be in hiding while being hunted down by Quentin Frady (Henry Zebrowski). The conspiracy theorist is intent on making Bennet realize what really transpired behind the Odessa tragedy. Meanwhile, Luke Collins (Zachary Levi) will discover he possesses superpowers while on a quest to avenge someone he lost.

Additional casts include awkward teen Tommy (Robbie Kay), who worships Emily (Gatlin Green) until he learns of his new alarming ability that renders his own will powerless, and Miko (Kiki Sukezane), who is hiding an extraordinary secret that can threaten her life. A former soldier named Carlos (Ryan Guzman) is also discovering his unique skills.

Some heroes of the past such as Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka), Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg), Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy), The Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis), Angela Petrelli (Cristine Rose), and Micah Sanders (Noah Gray-Cabey) will also lend their powers to the ultimate quest of saving the world and mankind.

Levi told Entertainment Weekly, how "Heroes Reborn" compared to the original science-fiction series.

"I remember that second season of 'Heroes,' I'd never seen, nor have I ever seen since, a television worldwide press tour like that where they split a cast up all through Europe and Asia, and another group was like North and South America. They went everywhere. It was like a Marvel movie, almost. It's really difficult to kind of maintain that same hype and power and success of a show, you start sometimes losing a bit of groundedness, but with 13 episodes in this miniseries, I think that's kind of certainly what we're trying to get back to."

"Heroes Reborn" will premiere on September 24 on NBC.
