"Gotham" season 2 episode 21 saw Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk) almost catch Hugo Strange (BD Wong) but the trio was imprisoned in Indian Hill. The official synopsis of the season 2 finale, via IBTimes, reveals that as they break out Strange will unleash all of his villains onto the city.

The report continues to reveal that help is on the way. Alfred (Sean Pertwee) will be heading to the GCPD and call for help, particularly from Bullock (Donal Logue). Alfred will reason that it has been too long since Bruce and Gordon went to Arkham Asylum and there may be something sinister occurring, particularly with Hugo Strange.

It is shown in the official promo trailer that every villain Hugo Strange worked on will be unleashing havoc across Gotham City and it may be difficult for the GCPD to spring to action because despite Alfred's pleas, Clayface (Brian McManamon) has copied Gordon's appearance and could be causing disarray as an imposter in the GCPD office.

However, the biggest threat is Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) who has revealed to be free from Strange's manipulation and could even mind-control someone simply by touching them, making her a viable threat in the finale. It is possible she will be hunting down Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), who will be making a return appearance.

The report does point out that the Court of Owls was introduced in the most recent episode and it was revealed that even Hugo Strange takes orders from them. It is speculated that season 2 will end on a cliffhanger, with many of the villains loose in the city, setting up the stage for season 3 where the GCPD must deal with the Court of Owls as well as the super villains.

"Gotham" season 2 episode 22, "Transference," airs this May 23.
