"Gotham" has just one episode left and the season 1 finale appears to be the last time fans of the series will see Jada Pinkett Smith as the villain Fish Mooney. As cited by the IBTimes, Pinkett Smith had only signed on for only one season and there have been no reports of her extending her contract.
"We're done. I did my year and I had a good time," the actress stated during an interview with Extra. This has fed the fan speculation that her character would eventually bite the dust during the season finale. Fashion Style has reportedly drawn this conclusion as well due to the fact that Mooney won't be returning in future installments.
The official synopsis of the finale states that Mooney is going to fight Maroni and the Penguin as the gang wars continue to escalate. This will be her last attempt to reclaim her criminal empire and surpass the legacy that Carmine Falcone built.
It is speculated that her plan to fight back to reclaim her empire and get revenge may backfire. The Penguin has shown his capability to manipulate people and events to play out exactly the way he wants and Mooney's death may just be another part of the plan so that he could become the sole mob leader in Gotham.
Barbara and Leslie, on the other hand, will finally get to bond after the incident with the Ogre. This will add some interesting dynamics for Gordon, who has spent the past few episodes chasing the Ogre and is now focused on controlling or stopping the mob war flooding the city streets.
The synopsis also reveals Bruce Wayne will be digging into the Wayne Manor and may eventually find something that his father left behind. Fans speculate that Bruce will discover a secret area that will one day become the Batcave.
