As the battle of the Phablets continue between Google Nexus 6P and iPhone 6s Plus, which between the two will emerge victorious?
Nexus 6P enters the ring looking like an exceptional product, which is very unlikely given the plastic make of the previous Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. Things changed with Nexus 6 entering the market, sporting a metal frame and aluminum unibody.
Nexus 6P has a sensor on the back and a 5.7-inch WQHD AMOLED display on the front. It's built brings it up to the level of the iPhone 6s Plus, while showing of an impressive 515 pixels per inch (ppi) that can give 6s Plus' 5.5-inch 1080p display with 401 ppi a run for its money.
But despite the screen difference, Nexus 6P almost has the same footprint as that of the 6s Plus. The Nexus 6P is lighter, although at around 0.18 pounds compared to 6s Plus' 0.19 pounds due to the laters 3D Touch. iPhone 6s Plus' ability to detect pressure brings more functionality to it that the Google Nexus 6P lacks.
A much deeper inspection of the two devices shows that the Google Nexus 6P is expected to deliver much since it packs a Snapdragon 810 processor with 3 GB of RAM and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Apple's iPhone 6s Plus fires back with an A9 processor and 2 GB of RAM proving to be one of the fastest phones there is. Both have equal memory options: Nexus 6P with 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB while 6s Plus has 16 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB.
Both devices don't have a microSD card slot, as always, although one feature that's been missing is the wireless charging. Unlike the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5, Nexus 6P will not be Qi-capable; but on a positive note, it seems like the device will charge quickly using USB-C.
When it comes to battery life, the Nexus 6P seems to have a better staying power, while the 6s Plus maintains an average battery performance.
Given these accounts on both the Google Nexus 6P and Apple's iPhone 6s Plus, it is up to consumers to decide who is the winner. Although it's very unlikely for iPhone users to jump over to the other side and vice versa, it's good to note that both devices have narrowed the competition when it comes to Phablets. It still remains to be seen though, how Nexus 6P will perform in the real world once it's officially launched come late October.
