Golden State Warriors trade rumor 2015: Marreese Speights to be traded for Magic's Channing Frye?

The Golden State Warriors are faring well this 2015–16 National Basketball Association (NBA) regular season with a 27–1 record, but they might be looking for an efficient scorer off the bench and trade big man Marreese Speights.

Speights has been with the Warriors since the 2013–14 season but because of his struggles this season, he may be parting ways with the team soon.

In Golden State's championship-winning season, Speights was one of the reasons for the team's success being an efficient center and was averaging 10.4 points with 4.3 rebounds in 15.9 minutes of action per game.

But this season, the 28-year-old is having hard time finding rhythm and in 23 regular season games played so far is averaging only five points and three rebounds in 9.8 minutes played per contest.

In a report by Monte Poole of CSNBayArea.com, he mentioned that the Warriors are looking for bench production and are hoping Speights will "find his shot" since fellow big man Festus Ezeli is not really a scorer who can be a defensive threat.

Poole added the Dubs are aware that once the Splash Brothers (Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson) and Draymond Green head to the bench, scoring becomes a task for them.

Because of this, the Warriors are exploring the trade market, according to Poole, so if Speights cannot really find his groove, they can search for a stretch four that the coaches can rely on.

SB Nation's Golden State of Mind mentioned in its report that a possible deal for the Warriors is to trade for the Orlando Magic's Channing Frye.

In the report, a tweet from Fast Break was included and it stated that when Frye was a free agent, the Warriors were interested in him.

Frye has played in 24 games for Orlando this season and is averaging 6.2 points, three rebounds, and one assist in 17.9 minutes played per outing.

If the 32-year-old veteran heads to the Warriors, he may play longer to let the starters rest or can have extra minutes late in the game since the defending champs often blowout opposing teams early in the second half.
