'Final Fantasy XV' gameplay news, details: New video explains vehicular travel and character progression

The Regalia can be flown and piloted in "Final Fantasy XV." Square-Enix

The latest Active Time Report episode from Square-Enix has been released and a report from Dual Shockers has translated the information for gamers anticipating the launch of "Final Fantasy XV." In the new video report, director Hajime Tabata reveals the game's progression system, vehicular travel and save system.

According to the video, players will be able to save anywhere. This will be a far cry from the older games in the series where saving was only delegated to save points. It is also revealed that saving and particularly the camp fires players make will serve a bigger purpose as the player can fast travel to previous camp sites.

Tabata also reveals that the game is not completely an open-world but new locations will unlock as the player progresses through the game. This will resemble some games such as the "Grand Theft Auto" games where portions of the game's city and regions are locked until the player accomplishes a specific mission or plot point.

Chocobos will be in the game and can be used to make travel faster however the video reveals that using the car will be much faster. When the car gets an upgrade later into the game it can be flown like a small airship. However, if players crash the flying car when landing it will count as a game over and the players will be brought back to the point before the flight.

It is explained that there will be mechanics for taking off and landing, with the landing mechanics reportedly a bit more difficult to pull off.

Character progression is also going to be different than previous games. According to the developers, there will be something akin to a skill tree, allowing players to pick abilities and build their characters in different ways. The exact number and range of weapons have yet to be revealed but there will be seven types, each type with multiple variations.

"Final Fantasy XV" launches for the PS4 this Sept. 30.

From panic to false alarm: the danger of ‘rage bait’

Christians are by no means immune from this type of moral panic formed on the basis of rumour and conjecture, so how can we make sure that we are, in Jesus’ words in Matthew 10:16, “wise as serpents and innocent as doves” in our online interactions?
