'Final Fantasy 15' release date news: no-show at E3?

Fans of the upcoming "Final Fantasy XV" will have to wait a little longer for details about the title.

According to a semi-regular video briefing published online by Square Enix, called Active Time Report, details about the upcoming "Final Fantasy" title would be pulled out of the upcoming E3 event in June. Instead of the earlier E3, Square Enix will be unveiling "Final Fantasy XV" in Gamescom, to be held in the latter part of the year.

As the game's director Hajime Tabata said on the video, "E3 doesn't give us sufficient time to fully prepare to release pertinent information about the game. So I have been discussing with our marketing teams, and we've actually been considering Gamescom in August, instead of E3, as the target for the next major reveal."

The announcement came after reports surfaced that Square Enix will be holding a dedicated press conference at the upcoming E3 event. Minus the "Final Fantasy XV" details, the company is expected to announce developments on other upcoming Square Enix titles, chief among them the recently-announced second instalment of the "Deus Ex" title. Other game details that Square Enix is expected to divulge include "Rise of the Tomb Raider" and a new "Hitman" title.

After Gamescom in August, Square Enix will unveil "Final Fantasy XV" in a host of other industry events worldwide. Speaking about their schedule, Tabata added, "Right after that, there is PAX Prime in North America at the end of August to early September. Then in mid-September, we have TGS in Japan. This group of events will be the platform for our reboot, or restart if you will, towards the release of the main game."

"Final Fantasy XV" is scheduled to be released for the Playstation 4 and Xbox, and release dates have yet to be announced.
