'Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2' release date news: First trailer released for anticipated title

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Bandai Namco

"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" has been officially unveiled in a brand-new teaser trailer from Bandai Namco. The trailer gives a small sneak peek at the world that the gamers will be able to play in and showcases the upgraded graphics engine and some familiar faces such as Freeza and Future Trunks as returning characters.

According to a report from Kotaku, the game is teased to feature a unique storyline involving the past and future, which may explain the importance given to Future Trunks in the trailer. It is speculated by fans that a new villain will be introduced, one that is attempting to alter history and the player will be tasked in preserving the timeline.

The report further states that a full presentation of the game will be given during this year's E3 in June. Gameplay elements, story and changes to the first game's format are expected to be discussed. Just like the "Budokai" and "Tenkaichi" games, it is expected that "Xenoverse 2" will implement some changes while retaining what worked in the first game.

"Dragon Ball Xenoverse" allowed players to make a fully customizable character of any race and it is expected that the sequel will do the same. Given that this is a confirmed sequel,

The game was teased to release for the PS4, PC and Xbox One but in an update from Kotaku it was revealed that the game is going to be a PS4 exclusive in Japan. It is undetermined if this exclusivity will extend to the game's international release or if it will launch as initially announced for PC and Xbox One given their popularity in the US.

According to Polygon, Bandai Namco also launched a teaser website with a countdown but that site has since gone offline now that the trailer has been released. Bandai Namco has since launched the official "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" website
