Square Enix is set to release their newest role-playing game "Dissidia Final Fantasy NT" in the first quarter of 2018. "Final Fantasy" has been releasing character spotlight trailers including one for Cloud of Darkness, Jecht, and Ultimecia. However, fans are more interested in new playable characters.

Square Enix will announce more characters to be included in the game in the coming months. Fans are quick to suggest characters like Aranea Highwind ("Final Fantasy XV") and Zack Fair ("Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core.")

Square Enix announced several new characters last year including Ramza Beoulve ("Final Fantasy Tactics"), Ace ("Final Fantasy Type-0"), and Y'shtola Rhul ("Final Fantasy XIV"). The trailers highlighted a much more sophisticated combat mode with all characters bringing unique fighting styles of their own. The sneak peek of Y'shtola is one of the most talked-about characters with her dynamic magic prowess.

The biggest character reveal so far is "Final Fantasy XV's" Noctis Lucis Caelum, which was announced during the Tokyo Game Show 2017 in September. There have already been suggestions from fans that Noctis will join Dissidia. Noctis will return to PlayStation 4 with his large arsenal and warp-point attacks.

Meanwhile, no news nor rumors point to Ardyn Izunia, the main antagonist in the "Final Fantasy XV" being part of Spiritus' army as Noctis' counterpart in the game. Many gamers are also urging the developers to bring back DLC update characters like Gilgamesh, Yuna, and Tifa.

Other than new character announcements, some fans are also waiting for preorders and season pass news.

The gameplay of "Dissidia Final Fantasy NT" is a lot different in the previous game installments like "Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy" and "Dissidia Final Fantasy." Many experts commended the summoning-element of the upcoming game based on the trailer.

In an interview with VG247, "Dissidia Final Fantasy NT" Director Takeo Kujikaoka explained that the new three versus three combat mode aims to allow more players to engage in the game. "We're very aware that the whole idea of this is to play with others," he said.
