'Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth' release date: Game to launch in North America in 2016

"Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth" has now been confirmed for a North American release, with the game scheduled to arrive sometime in 2016.

Copies of the game are also expected to make their way to South America and Europe in the same year, according to Digital Trends. The game will be available on both the Playstation 4 and PS Vita, though there's no word yet on whether the game will be available on other platforms. A localized copy of the game for the Playstation will be available via retail, while PS Vita owners can find the title on the Playstation Network when it is officially released.

The announcement of "Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth" hitting North American shores was made during Bandai Namco's Anime Expo panel, according to IGN

"Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth" has been available in Japan since March. The game follows "Digimon All-Star Rumble," a 3D fighting game released for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. "All-Star Rumble" marked a stark departure for the franchise, as it explored the fighting game genre which has not been the norm. "Cyber Sleuth" will be a return to form for the "Digimon" franchise as it yet again features the role-playing game style.

"Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth"  is a game set in the not too distant feature, with players taking on the role of Aiba. Aiba's life is turned upside down by a chance encounter with a mysterious hacker, leading to a life that bounces back between both the real and digital worlds, according to Kotaku. During the mysterious chase, Aiba receives a device known as the Digimon Capture from a hacker in an online chatroom.

Along the way, players will not only learn more about the life of Aiba and the story contained within the game, but also about the numerous kinds of magical creatures known as Digimons.

"Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth" is expected to have over 200 different Digimons for players to train and use in battle throughout the game.
