Veteran point guard Brandon Jennings is set to return soon as the Detroit Pistons recalled him after only a one-game stint with the team's National Basketball Association Developmental League (NBA D-League) affiliate, the Grand Rapids Drive.

Jennings decided to play in the NBA D-League before returning to the NBA after missing almost 11 months of action due to a left Achilles injury suffered last season.

The Pistons were surging in the 2014–15 season with Jennings as the team's main point guard and were starting to win until he sustained the injury which limited him to only 41 regular season games.

In a short playing stint last season, Jennings was averaging 15.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.1 steals in 28.6 minutes of action per outing.

Now that he is returning to the Pistons roster, the 26-year-old point guard will not be getting his old job as the main court general that easily as he is looking to compete for the position.

Point guard Reggie Jackson is the new starter for Detroit, with the veteran Steve Blake being the reserve in the position.

Despite the competition, Jennings is looking forward to it and said according, to the Detroit Free Press after Sunday's practice with the team, "If I've got to earn my second spot, then let's practice for it. Let's go play for a spot. I'm with it. I'm up for it."

Pistons head coach and president of basketball operations Stan Van Gundy said even if Jennings is returning, Blake will likely still be the team's number two point guard.

The Pistons are seventh in the Eastern Conference standings with a 16–12 record and are currently riding a two-game winning streak.

Up next for the boys from the Motor City will be the continuation of their three-game Eastern Conference road trip, playing the second game versus the Miami Heat this Tuesday.
