"Destiny 2" has reportedly been delayed, and it may not make its official debut until after September of this year.

For a while, gamers had known about the rumors surrounding the sequel, and how the next installment of the franchise was supposedly set to make its debut this September.

Even though both Activision and Bungie did not announce any plans to launch "Destiny 2," previously leaked documents pertaining to the game still indicated that the sequel would arrive sometime this year, GameSpot reported.

Unfortunately for those fans who may have been holding on to that belief, it now looks like "Destiny 2" is no longer on track to meet that estimated time of arrival.

Kotaku was able to speak with some folks who were familiar with the inner machinations of Bungie, and according to them, "Destiny 2" has been delayed.

It's unclear exactly how long the delay will last, but with both Activision and Bungie yet to announce anything official regarding the sequel, information on its new launch window figures to be tougher to obtain than before.

The exact reasons behind why "Destiny 2" has been delayed also remain uncertain.

According to Kotaku's sources, at least one reason behind the delay is all the constant change surrounding the game itself.

The plans for "Destiny 2" are reportedly not set in stone at this point, and with near constant tweaks being made to the sequel, it becomes easier to understand exactly why the game may not be ready to launch so soon.

It's also unclear just how much the uncertainty regarding "Destiny 2" may be affecting the game that is currently out right now.

Bungie has not made a lot of additions to "Destiny" since the calendar turned to 2016, and the once regular stream of new content has been slowed noticeably.

With "Destiny 2" now reportedly pushed back, it may be a while before players can get their first look at the new world their Guardians can live in.
