'Dance Moms' season 5 spoilers: Coach Abby Lee Miller slams Nia's music video

Nia in Dance Moms season 5 Lifetime

It's been alluded to for a while but season 5 episode 17 of "Dance Moms" will finally show Nia's music video, "Star in Your Own Life," giving the audience a glimpse of the dancer's jump into a career other than dancing. Nia's mom Holly is obviously happy but coach Abby Lee Miller almost immediately stomps on Nia's parade.

The promotional trailer for the upcoming episode shows Holly hosting a big premiere party for her daughter's first foray into music, despite the fact that the music video did upset some of the other members of the ALDC crew. The video shows the guests chanting Nia's name and everything appears to be in perfect order.

"I'm not bragging, but I am beyond thrilled with Nia's video," Holly explains in the clip. "I want Nia's video premiere to be as big as possible."

This all ends when Abby shows up and almost immediately tells Nia, "Nia I'm going to tell you something. That video never needs to come out."

She then walks out the door and, presumably, out of the premiere party. It's not the first time she slams on Nia's choice to pursue a career in music.

Dealing with Nia won't be the only issue Abby will face. The next episode will also pit the ALDC against their rival, Cathy Nesbitt Stein's Candy Apples. It gets worse when Abby discovers that former Dance Mom Jeanette Cota and her daughter Ava, who were a part of Abby's season 4 crew, have now joined the Candy Apples.

According to the official synopsis of the episode, not only are Jeanette and Ava now a part of Abby's rivals but they also seem quite confident that they can win the competition.

"Dance Moms" season 5 episode 17 will be the midseason finale and is scheduled to air on April 28.
