Former CSI Las Vegas chief D.B. Russell (Ted Danson) will give Avery Ryan (Patricia Arquette) major insecurity issues as he transfers to the Cyber division when the series returns for its second season.

The blonde operative is set to take the top position that Simon Sifter (Peter MacNicol) will vacate. Russel's arrival, however, will reportedly leave her unsure whether to take on the job. Russel is said to take the position of director in the division's Next Generation Cyber Forensics.

Executive producer Pam Veasy told TV Guide that Avery would not quickly embrace the opportunity of taking over Sifter's job. It appears that the addition of Russel in the team is just one of the many factors that make her have second thoughts about accepting the new position.

"It means different things for her job. She sees that Sifter's job involved a lot of dealing with the brass and the politics of cyber," said Veasy.

Meanwhile, Russel is slated to join the rest of the Cyber division team in tracking down the most dangerous cyber criminals in season 2. CBS reveals that the first episode will reportedly evolve around the hacking of a home security system, which turns into a homicide investigation.

In an interview with Zap2it, Danson said he is excited to work with the award-winning actress, as well as the rest of the cast members.

"I'm off to do 'CSI: Cyber' and I'm really looking forward to it. I get to work with Patricia and James [Van Der Beek] and Peter [MacNicol], a bunch of really interesting folks," said Danson.

Meanwhile, season 2 will also continue Daniel Krumitz (Charley Koontz) and his sister's trial after the latter killed the parolee who murdered their parents. Veasey revealed that this would have a profound impact on the operative. He would reportedly make her a promise that "will dictate how he behaves the rest of the season."

"CSI: Cyber" season 2 will return on Oct. 4 at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.
