'Criminal Minds' season 11 spoilers: Emily Prentiss to return

"Criminal Minds" CBS Official

For 11 seasons, "Criminal Minds" has been treating audiences to interesting and mind-boggling storylines. This, coupled with a compelling ensemble cast, makes the show consistently do well in ratings.

Now, "Criminal Minds" is bound to get interesting as CBS has announced that former Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) member, Emily Prentiss, will make a comeback. This is expected to be great news for all fans of Prentiss (played by Paget Brewster), as she was truly missed when she made the exit back in season 7's finale.

According to CBS' official news release, the former BAU member is making a comeback "later this spring." The last time fans saw Brewster was back in season 9 as a special guest star and an Interpol Agent. She was contacted by Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) to help in a murder case.

In season 10, she also made an appearance and was even asked by Hotch (Thomas Gibson) to rejoin the team. But Prentiss didn't accept the offer.

This time she'll be back to work with the team, but sadly for fans, Prentiss won't be around for long as she will only be a guest star in one episode of season 11.

The release states that Prentiss will work with the BAU to pursue "an elusive international serial killer." She will seek the help of her former colleagues at the BAU when she strongly believes that the killer's next target is in America.

Prentiss' return will not only excite fans, but also her co-workers, who have always viewed her as a dedicated team member. Prentiss' loyalty is proven time and again and she will never be forgotten especially for those times when J.J. (A.J. Cook) was tortured by terrorists.

It's going to be an exciting wait for Prentiss' return because a lot of fans did hope she would return to the popular series. In the meantime, catch new episodes of "Criminal Minds," every Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
