'Creed' movie plot spoilers: Rocky Balboa to return as a trainer in spin-off

 Wikipedia

Sylvester Stallone will be back as Rocky Balboa in "Creed" a spin-off project that will try to continue the saga of Rocky Balboa.

This time around however, Rocky Balboa will no longer be throwing the punches but rather his wits. He will act as mentor/trainer to Adonis Creed (played by Michael B. Jordan) who is the son of the late Apollo Creed.

Balboa will try to guide the young Creed as he tries to embark on a boxing career like his father did.

Adonis actually never knew his father since he died before he was born. For people who have been following the Rocky series, this was most probably the time when Apollo fought Ivan Drago (Rocky IV).

With that, Adonis never knew that his father Apollo was a popular World Heavyweight Boxing champ though boxing was apparently in his blood. Adonis ends up landing in Philadelphia where he tracks down the famous Rocky Balboa and eventually asks him help in training.

Balboa will try to avoid doing so at first, stressing that he is done with the sport. However after seeing the strength and determination in Adonis, Rocky eventually agrees to mentor Adonis.

As far as Rocky is concerned, the iconic character is said to be in the middle of a battle of his own. Though it wasn't mentioned, a wild guess would be that this could have something to do with his health.

Most folks thought that the film "Rocky Balboa" was the final chapter for the Rocky series, considering what else could Stallone show off with an aging body that certainly does not belong in the squared circle.

And apparently the answer to that is graduating into mentorship after the years of success he has had as a boxer.

Creed is set to be shown in theaters by November 25, 2015 this year.
