"Continuum" fans will have a lot to celebrate about with the airing of the series' fourth and final season on Friday, Sept. 11. For many avid viewers, it was a long wait since last December when season 4 was still a distant promise. Now, however, the waiting ends as the excitement builds up.

Christine Shipton, Senior Vice President at Shaw Media, picks on the anticipation of the fans and hinted an explosive closure on the series' intense storylines.

"Continuum's award winning success on Showcase is a testament to the quality of our Canadian original productions... with executive producer Simon Barry at its helm, the fourth and final season of 'Continuum' is bound to deliver a heroic conclusion to the futuristic series," Shipton said in a statement, as posted by Carter Matt in December.

"Continuum" season 4 picks up from a battle Kiera (Rachel Nichols) and Brad Tonkin (Ryan Robbins of "Falling Skies") are fighting with the future soldiers that arrived in the closing episode of season 3. Kiera finds herself at odds with Carlos (Victor Webster) and Alec (Erik Knudsen) as she remains in alliance with members of Liber8. Season 4 will also see Kiera fighting the possible future reign of Kellog (Stephen Lobo).

Nichols is elated to have the chance to finally put closure to the successful series.

"All great stories deserve an end," she said in the same statement. "I am excited to finish 'Continuum' with the riveting conclusion it deserves... this series finale is dedicated to the devoted fans who have loyally supported us since day one."

"Continuum" season 4 will have a total of six episodes, a short run for many but more than enough for the fans who are too eager to finally get to the end of the story that has captured their imagination since the series was launched in 2012.
