Cleveland Cavaliers trade rumors: Atlanta Hawks' Kyle Korver could be a potential target

In pursuit of bringing home the 2016 National Basketball Association (NBA) championship, the Cleveland Cavaliers may be looking to bring in additional firepower in the form of sharpshooting Atlanta Hawks guard/forward Kyle Korver.

In speaking to ESPN Cleveland, ESPN reporter Brian Windhorst revealed that the Cavaliers may have interest in bringing Korver aboard as a trade acquisition.

Korver is among the league's best shooters, and even though his three-point field goal percentage for this year is down from his career mark, he is still sinking the long-range shot at an impressive 38 percent clip, as per his player page on ESPN.

With his long-range chops, Korver can play the role of spot-up specialist for a Cleveland Cavaliers team that already has LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love as focal points of its offensive attack, along with J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert providing additional firepower from beyond the arc.

Aside from Korver, Windhorst also mentioned that the Cleveland Cavaliers may also be interested in trading for New Orleans Pelicans center Omer Asik.

According to Fansided, the Cavaliers' interest in Asik may stem mainly from their previous dealings with him back when he was still a member of the Chicago Bulls.

Still, Asik does not seem to be as good of a fit for the Cavaliers as Korver may be.

Asik's value on the court is derived mainly from his rim-protecting prowess, but the Cavaliers already have center Timofey Mozgov to fulfill that role. Asik also lacks the shooting that would enable him to stretch defenses playing the Cavaliers, making him a potential liability on the offensive end of the floor.

For now, Korver and Asik joining the Cavaliers remains more fantasy than fact, although things can change in a hurry.

With the Cleveland Cavaliers intent on winning the title, they will likely be pursuing every available avenue of improvement, even if that means trading for a few players.
