Another NBA star will be attending USA Basketball's (USAB) Las Vegas minicamp next month as Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James is set to be present at the camp but he will leave immediately.
The camp will be held from Aug. 11 to 13 and will include non-contact workouts and an exhibition game on the final day.
James is reportedly attending the camp for just a day and will not participate in the workouts and in the scrimmage since his foundation's annual Family Reunion event will be held on Aug. 13 as well.
USAB managing director Jerry Colangelo said numerous times that players who are aspiring to be part of the 12-man roster that will be sent to the 2016 Rio Olympics must attend the camp.
According to reports, Colangelo does not mind if players present at the camp will not participate in the workouts or in the game; what's important is their attendance which for him displays their commitment to the program.
James has played three times already for Team USA in the Olympics, winning one bronze medal (2004 Athens Olympics) and two gold medals (2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympics).
The 30-year-old basketball star has also been part of the 2006 FIBA World Championship team that won the bronze medal and the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship squad that took home the gold.
Perhaps James' most memorable Team USA appearances were in the squad that played in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.
In those stints, he had the chance to play alongside Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Chris Paul, and Anthony Davis.
If James does attend the minicamp this August, he will be the second member of the Cavaliers who expressed his interest of being at the camp.
Recovering big man Kevin Love was one of the first players to announce his intentions of going to the Las Vegas camp.
