Another milestone was reached by Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James as he became the youngest player in the National Basketball Association (NBA) to reach 25,000 points.
James, 30, achieved the mark when Cavs point guard Matthew Dellavedova threw a lob pass to him in Monday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers and he finished the play with an alley-oop dunk.
The slam in the fourth quarter gave James 22 points in the game for a total of 25,001 points in his career.
"The man above definitely put a stamp on it. What better way to close in on it than by me kind of high-flying a little bit. The man above definitely reached down and touched me a little bit," James said, according to ESPN.
Along with his 22 points, James provided an all-around performance also recording nine rebounds, 11 assists, four steals and two blocks.
The Cavaliers were able to win 107–100 to begin the 2015–16 season with a 3-1 record.
Following the play, James' achievement was acknowledged during a timeout with the fans inside the Wells Fargo Center giving him a standing ovation, which he said was "very special."
Before James, Los Angeles Lakers star guard Kobe Bryant was the youngest player to reach the 25,000-point mark at 31 years, 151 days old.
The two-time champion is playing this season with a bad back that has plagued him since the preseason but is still performing very well.
In four games played so far, James is averaging 22 points, 7.8 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 2.3 steals in 33.5 minutes played per outing.
Cleveland head coach David Blatt praised his star forward saying, according to ESPN, "The NBA is full of records, but that's an extremely impressive, record-breaking moment for LeBron."
"To be the youngest player in the history of the game to score 25,000 points, particularly when you're every bit the passer that you are the scorer, is just a testament to his greatness," Blatt added.
James and the Cavs will continue their 2015–16 campaign today, Wednesday, when they begin a three-game home stand taking on the revamped New York Knicks.
