The playoff-bound Cincinnati Bengals suffered another injury at the quarterback position as current starter AJ McCarron sustained a sprained left wrist in the last play of their overtime loss to the Denver Broncos last Sunday.

McCarron hurt the wrist trying to gather a loose ball from Broncos defensive end DeMarcus Ware following a fumble and said, according to ESPN, "Diving for the football, and it just happened."

The 25-year-old quarterback added, "It's my fault. I told the guys that. The snap caught me a little by surprise. I was looking just to see how they were adjusting to [wide receiver] A.J. [Green] coming in motion, and it just kind of slipped through my hands and hit my rib protector and bounced off. It's my fault. Simple as that."

Cincinnati has trusted McCarron with the starting quarterback job after franchise passer Andy Dalton was sidelined with an injured thumb.

But despite the injury, McCarron is looking to play in their regular season closer versus the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

According to a tweet by the Bengals, McCarron said there are no concerns about the injury and he "should be good to go on Sunday."

McCarron participated in practice last Wednesday and in a report by AL.com said he is doing what the training staff is telling him to do, and taking it day-by-day until he is ready to go.

In their overtime loss to Denver, McCarron completed 22-of-35 passes for 200 yards and one touchdown, also getting sacked twice.

The fifth round pick in the 2014 National Football League (NFL) Draft has played in a total of six games this season having 62 completions for 694 yards and four touchdowns, also throwing two interceptions.

Cincinnati already clinched the top spot in the American Football Conference (AFC) North with an 11–4 record, sitting above the Pittsburgh Steelers, Ravens, and the Cleveland Browns.
