Chicago Bulls star and former Most Valuable Player Derrick Rose is still undecided if he will be attending USA Basketball's (USAB) Las Vegas minicamp next month or take a rest before he joins the team in their training camp this September.
Rose has already expressed his desire to play for the United States in the Olympics as he was set to be part of the national team that won the gold medal in the 2012 London Olympics but had to pull out after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury while playing for the Bulls in the playoffs.
Before that, Rose played for Team USA in the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey where they won the gold medal.
Since the injury in 2012, the 26-year-old point guard has been plagued with injuries and was unable to play for the majority of the seasons that followed.
But during last year's offseason, Rose was selected and became part of the national squad that competed in the 2014 FIBA World Championship in Spain where they again had a gold medal finish.
Rose then returned to play for Chicago in the 2014–15 season; but a knee injury again limited him as he was only able to appear in 51 regular season games where he averaged 17.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per outing.
However, he was with the Bulls during the playoffs where they made it past the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round but were unable to oust LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in conference semi-finals.
Rose played well in the postseason as he averaged 20.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 1.2 steals in 12 playoff games.
If he decides to participate in the minicamp next month, Rose would be a huge addition to the already star-laden list of players who plans on attending.
But Rose's health would be a major concern especially for the Bulls if he plans to be at the minicamp after his long history of injuries that sidelined him in the past few seasons.
