A new trademark recently filed by Sony is being seen as a sign that the company is looking into a possible "Breaking Bad" video game.
The trademark, which Sony filed at The Office for Harmonization in the International Market currently located in Europe, does not implicitly indicate that it is intended for a video game.
The trademark itself could open any number of possible options for Sony to expand the "Breaking Bad" franchise, with the company's options being as varied as to pursue a mobile app, a casino offering or a video game based on the show.
The trademark filed by Sony was described as brief by Gizmodo, but specific lines within mentioning computer gaming software are strong indicators that the company may indeed be pursuing plans to eventually create a video game based on the popular show.
At least one factor that could be indicating that the trademark filing is indeed meant for a video game is the coding found in the "Breaking Bad" copyright. The copyright features codes nine, 28 and 41 which is significant mainly because Sony has taken to using the same numbers to identify either a video game or some sort of gambling machine, according to Design and Trend.
Sony has not gone public to make any mention of a plan to turn the popular show into a video game, but support for such an effort would seem to be present. One specific fan-made "Breaking Bad" video game featuring Lego characters became a viral hit when it was first released, amassing over 3 million views since then.
Even without the fan-made video, fans have clearly shown a strong affinity for "Breaking Bad," with the show's finale being one of the most talked about episodes in recent television history. The show's popularity also led to a spinoff entitled "Better Call Saul."
