Fans already know that Naruto's son Boruto (Yuko Sanpei) is a gritty young man whose goal is to imprint a legacy of his own onto the world. His confidence and willpower reflects that of his father. That is how he is depicted in the trailer for his self-titled anime film "Boruto: Naruto the Movie."
But there is more to Boruto's story than his desire to be known as a great ninja and not as Naruto's scion. In the new Naruto manga, Boruto possesses anger toward his father, who seems to pay little to no attention to him, inadvertently making his son suffer what he detested enduring growing up.
This ties perfectly to the premise of the new film, which Weekly Shonen Jump detailed in its latest issue.
[Spoiler Alert!] Apparently, Boruto's aspirations are more inclined toward besting and outdoing his father as opposed to making his mark and becoming a hero like his dad.
Here is the magazine's plot summary of "Boruto: Naruto the Movie." This one is teeming with spoilers so fans are cautioned to read at their own risk.
Boruto is the son of the 7th Hokage Naruto who completely rejects his father. Behind this, he has feelings of wanting to surpass Naruto, who is respected as a hero. He ends up meeting his father's friend Sasuke, and requests to become... his apprentice!? The curtain on the story of the new generation written by Masashi Kishimoto rises!"
This ultimately gives rise to more conflict than the obvious crack in Naruto and Boruto's relationship. The film will also have to show whether or not Sarada (Kokoro Kikuchi) will be happy about his dad Sasuke mentoring Boruto.
Weekly Shonen Jump also stated that moviegoers will be able to get special gifts in the form of limited (100 units only) hand fans designed by Masashi Kishimoto. There will be two designs: the "Uzumaki Version" has Naruto and Boruto in it while the "Uchiha Version" features Sasuke and Sarada.
"Boruto: Naruto the Movie" will hit theaters in Japan in August.
