'Boruto: Naruto the Movie' news: Live-action adaptation of the film reportedly in the works

"Boruto: Naruto the Movie" Toho

There seems to be no imminent end in sight to the stream of "Naruto" content. The latest rumblings suggest that there may be a live-action film based on the franchise.

To be more specific, there will reportedly be a live-action adaption of "Boruto: Naruto the Movie."

There appears to be more substance to the rumors as well as Lionsgate has reportedly already signed visual effects specialist Michael Gracey to direct the rumored film, Variety reported.

Avi and Ari Arad will reportedly be producing the film via Arad Productions.

Lions Gate Entertainment Corporation is also apparently locked in negotiations with "Naruto" creator Masashi Kishimoto to secure the film rights for the popular Japanese manga turned anime and feature film.

As of now, there's no official word on whether or not Lionsgate has managed to secure the film rights for "Naruto."

The seemingly sudden push to make a live-action adaptation of "Boruto: Naruto the Movie" is apparently no accident either as the film's record-breaking ticket sales have been viewed as more than enough justification to move forward with the project.

The numbers speak for themselves when it comes to the film as it reportedly made in excess of $5.46 million during its first three days in theaters. It is also already the highest grossing film from the "Naruto" franchise, Design and Trend reported.

If there is one thing that can stall the momentum of a live-action adaptation of "Boruto: Naruto the Movie," it would seemingly be the possibility that the animated version of the film could still struggle in North America.

The movie will first debut in North America next month and will be showing in 80 cities and among those will be New York, Chicago, and Toronto.

If the movie does well, then a live-action adaptation of "Boruto: Naruto the Movie" could take one step closer to becoming a reality.
