Naruto scored huge with this year's "Boruto: Naruto the Movie." With the new success of the franchise, is a sequel forthcoming? It's a possibility, but it may not come next year.

"Boruto: Naruto the Movie," which was released August of this year, earned a total of 2.02 million yen ($1.56 million) according to Anime News Network, making it the most successful Naruto film to date. It did not come as too much of a surprise as its first three days managed to bag 680 million yen ($5.46 million), which was also the highest-grossing opening for the 11-film Naruto franchise, says another article from Anime News Network.

With the film's success, most anime fans are hoping that the twelfth movie in the manga-based anime will be a direct sequel to "Boruto: Naruto the Movie." But alas, their wish will not be granted. According to iDigital Times, the franchise will follow-up this year's success with an animated movie adaptation of the novel "The True Legend of Itachi."

The said novel tackles Sasuke Uchiha late older brother Itachi. It is a two-part novel (The True Legend of Itachi: Glory" and "The True Legend of Itachi: Dark Night") and both parts will already be included in the film adaptation that is premiering in Japan on March 2016.

As per the official description of the novels, "This is the story of the glory, frustration, and determination of the ninja called a genius." Itachi will be joined by his sworn friend Shisui as they embark on an assassination mission that will be his way into ANBU.

So not having a "Boruto: Naruto the Movie 2" in 2016 might not be a huge loss altogether as there will still be another Naruto movie. Also, it's a good thing that the particular sequel is not entirely off the table. The sequel is still a possibility some time in the future.

More news on "Boruto Naruto the Movie 2" soon as it becomes available.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
