'Bloodborne' 1.05 updatebrings improvements to gameplay, multiplayer mode and more

A new update is scheduled to arrive for the hugely successful role-playing game "Bloodborne." Update 1.05 is expected to include significant changes to the title's gameplay, including a change to multiplayer mode.

Originally, players could only join others in multiplayer mode for as long as there was no significant gap in the players' levels, but then that mechanic was changed for update 1.04. That update allowed players to engage in multiplayer mode regardless of their levels for as long as they connected using passwords, and now that mechanic is being changed as well, according to Eurogamer.

In the latest update, the guest's level will now be automatically matched with the host's level whenever a significant gap is detected. Sony said the change was made in part to ensure a more level playing field.

For players pairing up in multiplayer mode with a significant level gap between them, one could do the heavy lifting of slaying powerful enemies while the other could just stand by and watch as his or her level increase. This allowed for certain gamers to gain an unfair advantage by virtue of having friends who played "Bloodborne" more, and Sony does not appear to want that in their game.

Another new wrinkle added to multiplayer mode will now clearly show that a password is being used whenever a player uses the Beckoning Bell or the Small Resonant Bell together with a password, according to Gamespot.

As usual, the new update is also expected to introduce various bug fixes and improvements to "Bloodborne" upon release.

"Bloodborne" will also be undergoing server maintenance next week. The maintenance will begin on either July 12 or 13, depending on what region the player belongs to. Update 1.05 will be available shortly after the maintenance on July 13.

From Software, the game's developer, has also announced that "Bloodborne" will be getting its first expansion set, though no further details on this have been given.
